My 79 GE has the low shift lever next to the tranny tunnel and it is not connected to anything underneath. Do you guys have pictures of where it goes??

I just did some reasearch and found out that there were 2 different transfer case numbers for Quadra-trac. 1305 and 1339. 1305 doesn't have the low range unit and 1339 does. I have the 1305.
So I guess it is a solved mystery. :banghead:

In your case there isn't anything attached to the L-N-H lever. If you ever decide to add the gear reduction unit make sure you get the linkage with it.

The low range unit is a bolt on option. Someone either removed the low range unit or swapped the whole transfer case with a QT with no low-range.
...Or possibly the linkage is just disconnected.
Here is a pic from Flint's QT page showing what the low range unit looks like:

It's the drum protruding out towards the camera above the hand with the wrench. If it doesn't have a low range unit there will just be a dish looking cover over the hole where the unit would be.
Good info on Flint's QT page here:

Find a low range unit. Don't go 4 wheeling without it. Your brakes will thank you. As well as the person in front of you.
