ok before i install the cover i want to make sure i have this gear installed right. The gear part should be facing away from the cam (fowards)right?
I know if you stick it on backwards only 1/4 of the gears mess and will eventually crap out!
uh, what now? Having not done this for about 8 months, I would reccomend this, before I give you incorrect info : bolt it up, leave the front cover gasket OFF place the front cover on the locater pins intall 2 bolts to hold it in place and insert the dizzy. You will have to align the oil pump drive shaft groove with the dizzy shaft thingy and then it should slide in. if it doesn't you may have a problem., if it does, turn the crank over by hand and have someone watch to see if rotor spins too., I believe there is only one way it will go on though, but I could be wrong.
ok looking at a dizzy gear and cam gear in my hand, now....I believe the teeth go to the front end to the front of the engine and the recess in the "front" end of the gear has a 1 1/4" diameter (or really close to that) 1/4" or 5/16" thick washer that fits there, and then the bolt goes in. check it out on yours.
