Ok guys, I've been running my 84 GW for a week now with a Ford 351/C6 combo. So far there have been NO PROBLEMS!! This was much easier than I expected. I'll post pics this week with a step-by-step guide to do this thing.
Here's a brief how-to:
Remove Jeep engine and tranny
Use 1"x4"x8" tube steel and drill hole in one end for the stock Ford F150 motor mount to fit with the long end of tube stock pointing up.
Set the motor in place with F150 mounts in line with the from frame perch - note: engine mount bolts will sit about 1 1/2" inches below Jeep frame perch.
Using a floor jack, raise the back end of the tranny so that engine sits level in the truck.
Mark 3 holes in the tube stock and unbolt the engine mounts and drill marked holes.
Use grade 8 bolts and reassemble mounts.
For the tranny crossmember, use 3"x3"x6" heavy tube stock. Mark and drill holes. Use grade 8 bolts for crossmember to tube stock.
I used the stock F-150 y-pipe for the exhaust and clamped it to the stock exhaust system.
Use stock Jeep wiring harness (my need to extend oil sender lead).
For alternator, I fabricated a very simple mount so I could keep the stock alternator. I'll post a pic. I haven't made the hoses for the A/C, but I'm using the Ford setup.
This swap should take about a weekend. I didn't use a time clock, but I have less than 30 hours from the tow truck dropping it off to driving it home.
So there you have it, another alternative for the Jeep 360.
Email if you have any questions.
Later,
Greg
