Hi everyone. This is my first post here! Been reading for about a month and I'm impressed. Bought me an'87 Gw a month ago with a siezed engine and no reverse (and 135,000 on the odometer). Thought I got lucky for a while because I was able to get her moving with a set of rod bearings and emery cloth, and a used low/reverse servo piston took care of the tranny.
But now it's time to fix the engine right. It's developed a little knock and of course the oil pressure is WAY low. I already looked at the oil pump and it's shot. So after pricing all the parts to get the engine in tip-top shape I have deciced I could replace it cheaper. Here's the ?'s. I have a wrecked '89 GMC 1/2 ton truck with a great engine. I would like to install it using one of Advanced Adaptors kits and keep the 727. Has anyone here tried this? Looks like a pretty easy fit, and they said with the adaptor all will work pretty good. I can wire up the EFI myself having had a lot of experience with the setup. What do ya'll think? The adaptor is about the same price as the timing cover and reapired crank, and the exhaust work will be cheap enough, so my first response is "go for it". Is there something I don't see? I do have a welder and torch too, so motor mounts are not a prob.
