I'm looking to buy a Grand Wagoneer I have always loved the wagoneer. First is there a year to stay away from or a year that I should look for. Second I'm partial to the tan interior can the dash be swapped or is it too much of a pain I really don't want to be stuck with burgandy. Any other tips while looking would be appriciated.

In MD look hard for rust especially the frame behind the fuel tank and under the carpet, floors rust from inside out.

from what I've seen most of these come with the tan.for me the biggest thing i missed when buying mine was that the floor pans were rusting from the inside out do to the vent being full of junk.they looked great from under the truck but not so good once i got the carpet out.

Just a note, 1991 was the last year they were made. Only 1560 came off the line that year. some (including me) think they're a bit more unique because of that.

For 8500 it better look really great.
Be mindful of emissions laws in your area. These beasties are loaded with vacuum actuators and switches that can be difficult to find replacements for, and as is typical with any vehicle of the era, the newer it is, the more crap they piled on. If you are trying to pass emissions testing for inspection, it may take a while to get it just right, but it can be done. Usually the newbies like the creature comforts, more modern brakes, and simpicity of the 4WD that comes with the later model Grand Wagoneers.

Well I looked at the Wagoneers and the 89 was very clean and ran great. What do you think its worth?

If it has to pass emissions the same as Az. you have a problem with this one as the equipment is missing, It won't matter what the readings are, it will fail equipment check. Nice looking though.

I think the screws holding the stainless down in the cargo area are long enough.
Price is a) affected by region, b) condition of vehicle, c) emmissions concerns (a concept that seems to escape some sellers) d) your perception of value for that particular item.
Sure it looks great to me in the pictures, but I have not seen it in person. Myself, I cannot imaging paying more than $3500-4000 for a (really) clean Waggie, but that's just me.

The screws are that long from the factory if you can believe it

I would not pay that much for the '89. Maybe if it was in near perfect shape with low miles and unmolested, but thats still a big maybe.

The rear wheel wells have been cut to clear the tires that are too big for the lift and the hoop steps are attached to the inner rocker and will cause the rockers to rust from the back side. Especially where you live if it's driven in the winter.
