My 360 went for a s@#$. I don't have much $, so I was wondering if I could drop a csb 305 or a obb 455 in with less expence. I have the 305, and can get the 455 for nothing. both motors are in excellent running order. My J-10 has the TH400/QT combo. What I need to know is what would be involved in swapping either of these engines, and what kind of problems to expect. I would apreciate any inpute you may have. Thanks in advance.

Either way it will not be a drop in. The transmission bolt pattern is AMC in your J10. You can have the tail shaft from your transmission put into the TH400 for the 455 or the 305 trans either way you go. Then the frame towers for the motor mounts would be needing some mods to get either engine to sit in place, then rad and wiring stuff like that. I think you would be in for more $$$$ to do it right. I would think if you are on a limited budget that finding another 360 that runs would be cheaper and it would drop in with no unexpected surprises that seem to cost $$$$. I would be for the 455 swap though, nice motor. Good luck ;)

Thanks for the input Crazy_J. I've been looking for a AMC 360, but have yet to find a good one. Most of the engines up here have either been destroyed by idiots,or have sat so long that they would have to be rebuilt anyways. I believe you are right to find another 360. If you know, or hear of anything in Ontario, Canada, please let me know. Thanks again. I appreciate it.
