I know it's late notice.(that's the way I roll):D I'm doing a day trip the back way to Crown King tomorrow. If anybody wants to go be at the airdown spot at 7:00 am. Leave by 7:30.

Let us know how it went and post PICS! Wish we could go. Haven't done Crown King since the winter trip a few years ago after the wash outs. The lower stair steps were wicked and a bike and a quad wiped out trying it BUT the jeeps made it! Best 6 1/2 hr wheelin trip ever. First rain then snow and ice. Had my 81 cherk w/t only 5 days and did it only part way. Put a branch thru the grille and radiator. Told the wife it was just a simple trail and got her to go in her waggy. She only got part way before she got too scared. I think she liked it even if she yelled at me.

Will do. Winters almost here. Might be time to plan one of those Crown King snow trips.

When is tommorrow and where is the airdown spot?
No way for me, already into 'Cruces mode here, pulling my spare axles this weekend and heading to NM soon to pick up a set of Rockwells for the buggy project.

Tomorrow is today. Airdown spot is somewhere you won't go. That would be anywhere south of Prescott Valley.:D
Just got back. Only made it about 2/3 of the way up. I went with a buddy (newbie) of mine. He has a mid 90's Dodge Ram. He was strugglin to get up the hills. Then I had a flat. While I was changing it he informed me that his 4WD quit working. The trail only gets worse so we decided to go back.
Still I had a great time. I love the high desert. And I did manage to get a bag full of prickly pear fruit for my tortoises back home.
Only got to take one pic.
Here it is.

my answer is... absolutely not! It's a ruthless trail and will even take advantage of lifted wagoneers.
