I need info about the proper hookup of the vacuum advance for a 1972 360. Would someone with a TSM help out? A scanned diagram would be great. A description would be ok.

I need to get this thing hooked up properly.

Didn't we just do this Rande? smile.gif
As I posted before the dizzy hose goes to the center nipple of the CTO(marked "D" for dizzy) at the thermostat housing. Tricky part is that CTO gets vac(both port and man) from the other CTO in the manifold. Tell ya what...rather than me confusing both of us here. I'll just scan the CTO diagrams from the 72 TSM and email'em to ya. smile.gif

Well yes, sorta.... I didn't understand the routing due to the lack of the old peices on the manifold. The vacuum switch on the thermostat housing is still there but thats it (and nothing was connected to it). I thought I should just go ahead and restore the system to the original configuration and wanted the diagrams so I could do it right.

I don't really understand why it has two different vacuum sources for cold or hot engine temps, but I'll trust to the engineers of that era knowing what they were doing. Hooking the system up backwards would not have been good.

Thanks to all the guys helping me out here.

My 72 had only one vacuum switch on it and it was stock as far as I could tell. I had the one switch on the T-stat housing and it did divide the vacuum between manifold and ported. My Wag would also run like crap when it was hooked up wrong. I will have to look up what was the correct way was to start with, but can honestly say that you should toss all of the hoses etc... in favor of a new intake and carb, like an Edelbrock or the like. Take advantage of the lenient smog laws for our older jeeps.
