Replaced starter solenoid..problem is maybe gone.

I have to still wait a few more days to see if it happens again, but I posted several threads regarding my "stuck on" starter. I replaced the solenoid on my starter yesterday (under the car..in the pouring down rain :( )

Everything was pretty easy of course, the top starter bolt I thought I was removing, but instead started to strip it. Luckily I got it out.

It started up right away with no sticking, so I thikn it might be fixed.

Now off to find my exhaust leak, rough running engine problem...etc.etc smile.gif

Make sure there's no reason for it to get excessively hot again - eg. good, thick gauge cables, clean terminals, good starter motor... etc.

Well, I'm hoping I don't have a problem with the starter that was there, I paid $45 for the solenoid, and could have bought a whole starter for $99 that of course included a new solenoid...

but I didn't want to fork over the cash for it, I need it to fix other problems with the jeep.

I think the cables are fine, everything looked good, just think it was an old solenoid that needed replacing.
