So, I am in the process for doing some major repairs/ maintenance on the Jeep. I am replacing the rear main seal, trans input seal, front pinion seal, engine mounts, trans mount, and a few other items. While draining the front diff we desided to make a little armor as I had already put a pretty good dent in mine. A few hours of work and a little paint and we have this.

Let me know what you think. We might even try to sell a few to support our FSJ habit.:) Anyway, just wanted to show off the only bling my Jeep has. It wont be bling for too long. Soon I am gonna test her out.:fsj:

How thick is the metal? I might take one in CAT yellow so it matches all the other stuff under there :D

Looks good!
One thing though...you may want to make a hole/gap in the center bottom to let dirt etc. out

Hey guys, thanks for the good words. We are looking at a price range if beyween $60 to $75 depending on R&D. We are also looking into possibly making these for the Dana 30, 30, 44, possibly 60 along with the AMC 20. This all depends on our ability to get our hands on different diff covers. Our first run is 3/16" I believe, but we are planning on making them out of 1/4" plate. We are also thinking of shipping them un-painted so that people would be able to put their own custom finish to match whatever paint job they want. Also, there are three holes along the bottom so that you can get bolts and a socket to the lower bolt holes. This would also allow for water/mud/ dirt drainage. We will hopefully be doing some offroad testing this weekend if everything goes according to plan. I will keep everyone updated as we figure more details out. Again, thanks for the intrest.

Well,
A little bit of an update on the diff armor. I took the Jeep out to a trail in San Diego called pancake rock. Pretty easy trail, but a great place to test things out. I found a few rocks to bash on and this is the result:

Overall, I am pretty happy with the results. I think I want to try to build another one with the bottom angled piece tied into the bottom of the ring. That would provide better protection for the lower bolts. I think if these are made out of .25 inch metal they will be more than enough to provide the protection you need. We are also going to try and make templates for the AMC 20, the Dana 30, and the Dana 35. Once we have them locked down, I will post up in the vender section.
