First off , Thanks to Jake and Jackie for hooking me up with a solid frame.
And to all the members here that have shipped or dropped off parts to me over the last couple of years. I've stock piled these long enough.
Many WOT's to come...

After my beloved 81 J20 decided to throw me one more curve ball I decided to make it ,Its last. It will now be disassembled and rebuilt on a different frame with a different cab alot of new/upgraded stuff and hopefully a different bed.

This weekend I brought home the frame, from high in the Appalachian Mountains.

It will be cleaned and sealed and gleaming better than new.

This is the Reading Bed I bought a few years ago and never installed. The J20 may keep a stock bed for a short time ,depends on the hassle of mounting this one and setting up fuel tanks.

As the other stuff gets here and progress starts I intend on adding to this thread. Been looking forward to building one from the ground up for quite sometime and figured now was it. It's not going to happen overnight unless some people show up and help. Most parts are here some need refinished before installing.

Good start Hoot,

Let me know if there are any parts you will need before I scrap out.

Before you scrap out get in touch with me. If it is FSJ and usable still, we can hook up with Jake's Junkyard. I'm pretty sure they will make a house call if it is a load and I see no problem having full loads. I seen some empty spots in his buildings not to mention the 90 FSJ's and one XJ and a FC. I'll have a bunch of duplicate stuff I won't need. I will be starting with 2 complete running driving Jeeps(with road driving disabilities) as well as enough parts to build a complete truck. As I get a load together it is going south instead of the crushers. I turned a bunch of stuff that I was trying , with no luck, to give away or sell, into a really nice frame. I also picked up a sweet step side rollbar for Neal up in WI. on this trip.
Next weekend the 1980 J20 that will be cab donor will be here.

Looks like your off to a great start. Your bed looks like its in better shape then mine, but mine was free and will look better with a coat of tractor paint. I have been looking and have not found a shell to fit mine yet. I might just brake down and try to build one.

I'm subscribed to watch...

I thought of buying a hard top for my utility bed but decided to leave it open. I'll tarp it or put that J20 cap on it if need be. The cap on it now is a spare one from my J20. It is protecting the new interior from the weather.

I believe I'm going to paint mine to match the Kubota. So it will most likely be two toned with the Orange as an accent color. Whatever the color is it won't be show quality. This is strickly a work truck, I just want it to be solid.

Nice project going on! The white bed is from a J truck?

It's not from a J truck but should be able to work. It was a package deal with a J20 that I didn't buy and the guy that did, didn't want the bed so the owner sold it to me. It is narrow enough to use on a Dana 60 rear end but I'm also thinking of dropping in a dual wheel axle that will fit under it nicely as well. The axle swap will be investigated as soon as I find out exactly what it is I have . All I know is I bought a dual wheel Ford axle. It is still off location.
It will leave a 6" space between the cab and bed if I keep the wheels in stock location. Maybe I can hang my suits in there. Actually I've thought about using it for tool storage or possibly a huge skinny gas tank. More likely tools as landscaping is one of its projected jobs.

This weekends adventure brought home the 1980 J20 that will be used in this build, mainly for the cab and axles, and the steering box and leaf springs of it going on my J10 that is still under construction. There is going to be alot of stuff for sale so if see something you want let me know. I have a feeling there will be another drop off run to Jake and Jackie's place.
Not much to speak of for sheet metal. The cab will be used but I doubt I'll keep any of the rest. Fenders are shot, bed is one of the worst I've seen with rust through everywhere. I might cut the flares off and save them or at least the good parts of them.
The rest of this week will be spent transferring the parts that I have for other people into their own hands and getting the last of mine to a safe place. Then some major home remodeling and a garage cleaning out, so the frame can be prepped and this J20 can be brought home and stripped down to nothing.
