Is that your original windshield washer fluid holder? If not maybe that mounts there. I do not have the GW so I am just guessing.

Did a PO have an alarm or PA speaker mounted there? Just my guess!

I agree with Baker.

You are probably missing your cruise control motor.

That's the original washer fluid bottle.

No indications of an alarm system anyware.

The cruse control works fine. It's the round gray container in the left side of the pic.

If I don't need it maybe I'll reduce the weight of this Wag and maybe get some better MPG. Dreamer am I.

Hmmmmmm, ocean liner horn!

Must be a PO-installed something-or-other. My '84 doesn't have it (I don't think--I'll check in the morning)

By the way, that's a nice, clean engine bay you got there irbob.

Looks like the remains of a PA horn for a CB radio - used to have one in my pickup (great for b$%%ching someone out when they cut you off)

Nothing stock in that location on my '84 (although that's where I mounted an electric fuel pump). By the look of the screws, standard blade type screws, as opposed to phillips or a hex bolt, I would say that it was mounted by some PO. I think the guys who suggest that a PA speaker of some sort was mounted there are right on.
BTW, how DO you keep your engine compartment soooo clean?

Thanks for your posts fellow FSJeepers.

I think u guys are right on with the speeker thing. Either for a alarm, PA, or horn. Maybe one of those woooga ones. My wife's grandad has one on his 75 chero, it's totally cool and a definate path clearer.

That was a shot of my engine bay from 2 days ago. It now has 2 days of Arizona dust on it and all the emisions stuff is apart. I am performing my annual vacuum line and parts inspection. Good thing to because a vacuum line going to the choke was broken off. I should post a pick for those of u that have never seen a 360 from under all of those hoses, hehehe.

I use Castrol Super Clean from Wal-Mart. Spray it on, hose it off to keep the engine bay clean. A little parts brush sometimes on the bad spots. It's cheeper than simple green and mixed 50-50 is still stronger. It will remove paint if used full strength so don't us it on your freshly painted engine block please. So I use it in the shop and the simple green is for the house.

Hey I bought a big ole jug of that castrol super clean today and when I got home and poured it into my simple green spray bottle (Muh ha ha ha) I was suprised to see the old familiar purple degreaser.. Ive been looking for this stuff for years. Havent found a place to buy it since I use to work at a Robotics Factory years ago.
Took all the crud right off my transfer case halves.. yeeee haaaaa. Good call Bob and thankx for the tip.

at that same spot I have an aftermarket washerfluid pump. I bet it is an add on also.

My 79 Chief had a plastic speaker horn mounted at about that location with no wires attached. I eventually attached a speaker wire to it that I could plug into my CB. I never actually used it but I always imagined that I would!
