I'm looking to get a new heavy duty fan clutch for my '77. I've read the the Hayden 2797's work well but the bolt pattern is not right for our water pumps.

Apparently the Imperial version with the same part number has the right bolt pattern but I can't seem to find one anywhere on the internet.

Anyone know where to get one or have another idea?

I could modify the mounting holes but I'd rather just get one that fits to begin with.

If it is the one I am thinking about, you just need to slot out 4 closed bolt holes by a few 0.001's. Not a lot of material needs to be removed.
I do mine in the mill, but I don't think there is an issue using a die grinder, just don't get carried away.
(Found a old picture of one of my old ones for referance)

Check Advanced Auto for the Imperial brand.

Search for Part No. 215045.

Ok cool found it at Advance Auto. However in the pic on their web site the mounting holes aren't slotted:

Did they change the design on these...anyone bought one recently?

Thanks...

I don't know if it's a generic pic or not. If you can find one in stock, ask for a water pump, too, and see if it fits. Or if you happen to have a water pump lying around your garage, bring it in and match it up.

Well I picked up an Imperial 2797 at a local Adavance Auto and the mounting holes are what is shown on the web site. I bought it anyway and I'll grind out the holes to make it fit.

I guess they have changed the design on these.

That's what I did with the Hayden unit. Angle grinder to open up the holes and your good to go. Should take about 10-15 minutes.

Just FYI, to get the Hayden fan at most parts stores they always want a car/yearengine......

1991 Chevy k1500, 5.7l(350), w/air, heavy duty thermal fan clutch
(there is non thermal, and regular duty thermal)

I also found that the Imperial now has the bolt pattern like the Hayden
