I have read a lot of threads on body lifts but never came across one that addressed the issue with a manual transmission. I only want to raise the body on my 79 cherokee an 1" or so. The only lifts I can find (perf. acc) call out 2" or 3" though. Will the 2" raise it 2" or is my stock mounts only 1" and therefore I will get 1" of lift? From what I have read in the other discussions I believe there will be no issues. However I worried about my transmission and shifter. Do I need to adjust something? OR will my shifter just drop an inch inside the cab?

You will have no problems with the T18a shifter. But you may need to make the hole for the D20 shifter a bit bigger.

And the 2" body lift will give you 2" of body lift.

The body lift will place your shifter lower, which is almost a good thing since that shifter is two miles long smile.gif

i have a 2" body lift on mine and it effects neither the t18a or d20 shifters. it'll be sweet.

Only thing that will be affected is the Clutch linkage, you will need to adjust it or get a longer rod to the bell crank

Well it looks like my new performer manifold and q-jet are not going to fit as well as I had liked. I will know for sure tonight. My question is if I use a body lift to clear the carb what will this do to my radiater set up? Has anyone heard of cutting the mounts to a desired height? Maybe I can buy a CJ 2" lift kit and cut them in half to get a 1" lift?

I never had any clearance problems with the performer intake and any carb.

One more question. My carb and stock air cleaner fit barely. I still would like to get the body lift for a future K&N and 32" tires. I have a 3-4" lift now but don't want to rub at all.

With a 2" lift kit will I need to adjust the radiator? I have a heavy duty 4 core in right now.

Will this distort the bumper height much?

Also, can I take out completely the body mounts and replace with the lift kit to only get about 1" lift?

OK, don't get a CJ one and cut them in half, if you go to 4wheelparts.com and click body lifts, then replacement body blocks, you can buy 1" ones cheap, i did this, then just go to the hardware store and get grade 5 or 8 hardware of the proper length.

I've got a 3" body lift. I just drilled some more holes on the radiator brackets to put it back in front of the fan.

No matter the lift, your bumbers will not sit right, look to relocate. You will also have to modify the accelerator cable bracket, and as mentioned b4, the clutch linkage.

It's all 1/2 day's work.(unless the nuts are rusted together to the bolts) smile.gif

What happens if the accelerator cable isn't adjusted?
