will a yj hardtop w/ full doors fit a 1981 cj-7

Yes. There may be some brackets and other minor things to address but the tubs are the same. For a better or more specific answer try www.jeepsunlimited.com (http://www.jeepsunlimited.com) and go to the CJ forum. These guys can tell you how many stitches are on a factory softtop!

They will fit but you will have to get a paddle latch kit for the latch to work. You can get them at
4wd hardware. (http://www.4wd.com)
BTW for those of you who may be wondering, if you take the YJ or CJ7 top and remove 9.5 inches from the side windows and add a 3" rail around the top of a 4wd hardware fiberglass body and do a little cutting and welding on the doors you can make it fit a CJ5.

Oh, is that all it takes? Man, I thought you had to be an engineer or something to do that. ;) Was it that hard to find a reasonably priced top for a CJ5?

Finding hardtops for CJ-5s is like finding GW frames without rust - they're out there. It's just not worth looking.

Most of the tops are those boxy things that look like a M.A.S.H. ambulance or a mail Jeep.

I know a guy that has a CJ5 with a hard top and doors...he wants to sell the Jeep. I was kickin aroung the idea, but the thing is soo rusty. It does have the 304 and 3 speed though....
