Well, how 'bout it? Premium Unleaded, Normal Unleaded, etc? 10w40, etc? I'm due for an oil change and I was just wondering what would work best? Thanks. -Zach
20w50 valvoline synthetic, on the tear down for my rebuild the cylinders looked great. i am sticking with it when i get my engine back.
i use mid grade for the most part. once in a while i use premium for the added detergent and regular if i am short on cash

I use premium all the time. Seems to give me less of a knock at loads.
Just changed the oil & filter last weekend. 10W30 Mobile 1. Costs a little more, but you can't take it w/ you. PurOne filter.

I like to use higher grade fuel but being the poor college student that i am i tend to run regular. But when i go to the redemtion center with all the cans from a couple weekends i can afford mid grade :D I find the engine runs better on the higher grade fuel. As for the oil i use mobil 10w30 and a napa gold filter.

Since I installed my Jacobs ignition I've been running regular unleaded. There is no knocking or noticable performance loss with the cheaper fuel. Oil, I like 10w30, virtually any brand. I add a quart of Slick 50 with each oil change though. Usually one of the auto parts stores has a deal where 4 qts of oil are part of the deal when you buy a qt of Slick 50 at $15. smile.gif

I have noticed that on premium I don't have the knocking under load, just like thos said. I was still getting knocking with my Jacobs ignition on regular. When my dizzy got knocked out last Summer I went to a 85 ignition system with TFI upgrade and it was better but still had some knock; now with premium fuel it is all but gone.
I've been running Valvoline 10w40, but I may go to 10w30 at the next oil change.

My engine burns oil so I use 20W50 in an attempt to burn less and drip less oil. I switched from a Fram to an AC Delco oil filter and my oil pressure no longer fluctuates, it stays at a nice constant 40. I usually use mid grade gas. I don't seem to get any knock before or after the Ford TFI ignition upgrade.

my other wag, I ran 20w50 Valvoline in the summer and ethanol gas. very little if any pinging.
I'm not sure what I'll run for weight in the new wag, but only ethanol fuel.

With the old engine I ran midgrade fuel and 10-30 Valvoline with a Wix filter.
I built the new engine with a little lower compression ratio so I can use regular all the time with no problems. I'll use 10-40 Valvoline in the summer and either 5-30 or 10-30 in the winter and will stick with Wix filters.

I always go with any cheapest gas that I can find at the pumps, and almost get rid off pinging with MSD-TFI upgrade.
But my Jeep deserves the best in these areas:
- Wix, AC, or PureOne oil filter
- Bosch Platinum plugs " next will try Platinum2 or +4 plugs"
- 2 quarts of 15W-50 + 3 quarts of 10W-30 Mobil-1 Full-Synth will = 9W-38 this is my owned idea for a best suit in California climatic changes.

I have a stock 360 with 135,000 miles on it. I find the truck runs ok with out any pinging on Mid-Grade. It pings like mad on Regular when warmed up. I think that is 89 octane at Ammoco.
As for oil, I run Quakerstate 10W-30 for higher milage engines during the winter months, and 10W-40 in the summer with a Puralator filter. Don't know the pressure because my gauge is non functional, but I know I have pressure from when I hooked the mechanical gauge up and it was good.

Mobil 1 synthetic 10w-30, with NAPA gold (Wix) filter
Conoco or Phillips Super Unleaded 91 octane (at a $1.49/gallon lately   :( )
I use Champion #1404 spark plugs (recommended by Edelbrock for the Performer package) gapped to .050 (minimum recommended by MSD)
Need to get the K&N filter, maybe when I make my snorkel kit.

Normal unleaded, and valvoline extended life 10w 30
Been using 20w50 Castrol last two oil changes. About 10 miles and two weeks apart. Diaphram in fuel pump leaking gas in crankcase made about 7 quarts of 2 stroke fuel in crankcase.
Mopar Oil filter (we keep some in stock at work)
Fuel so far has been 89 octane Chevron with lots and lots of rust added courtesy of my own rusty fuel tank.

I run 87 octane for normal around town and freeway use. Use 10-30 Penzoil all the time.
