View Full Version : How come I can't find a new vacum advance

I have called 3 or 4 different parts stores and cannot find a vacum advance diaphram for Jeep. I have started getting "burst knock" when I run the air conditioning. I tested the vac advance and it will not hold vacumn. What other vehicle can I use when calling into the parts store. Is assume that it is a motorcraft distributor.

I don't know how much a vac adv. is... but my new distributor with lifetime warrantee was $40!!! might be worth to check into it...

mine went bad last year, but i couldnt find just the diaphram by itself for less than the cost of a rebuilt distributor. so i got a distributor for the cost of a diaphram assembly. at least that sounds better. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif

Thanks, I will check that out. Only problem with a new distributor is I don't have a timing light. Oh well.

Before removing the old one...mark a refernce point on the engine somewhere in relation to the vac adv. and then again for the rotor... should get it real close that way... I rarely use a light...
