:banghead: Hey has anyone used the arp head studs on thier motor? I put a set in my block and set the heads on there and the bottom row of studs stick up in the way of the headers. I bottom tapped the holes like it said. I am wondering if there is something wrong with the studs they sent me. Thanks alot for your time.

I have never used them on a amc engine are you sure you have them in the right place, and are they the right part numbers

I've built a lot of engines with arp studs, and could always pull the heads in the truck by using the allen hex on the studs to pull them first. Can't say I've ever done it in a FSJ, yet, but eyeballing tells me it should be possible. I've cut several studs on engines with unequal length head bolts, too...
Fishtooter, do they still use J20's at Cloudland Canyon SP? I rode off Lookout to LaFayette to buy groceries during the blizzard of 93 with a park ranger in one...

So what's the point of using studs if you have to pull them off anyway to put the headers on??

you dont pull them off to put the headers on, you pull them off to remove the cylinder heads with the motor in the vehicle, most studded applications are this way

Oh, I get it. They really are HEAD studs that screw into the block, but they can get in the way if HEADERS.
Thanks.

you may even have to have the nuts machined down a little bit
