I'm looking at a set of 79 ford F250 axles (HP44/D60) for my J truck project. My question is can I run the 15 inch rims I already have on these axles? If I can't run the 15's then I'll have to buy new tires as well. I'm trying to stay away from buying tires again right now. I'm sure that this has been done somewhere.
Thanks in advance.

Since you're running stock 44's, which would be 6-lug, and I'm guessing the F-250 axles would be 8-lug, no, your wheels wont work. You might be able to find a set of 8-lug 15's though, then at least you wouldn't have to buy new tires.

Well of course I know that 6 doesn't equal 8. I have a set of 8 lug rims that are 15 inch already. I just need to know if they will fit on the 8 lug axles. I'm sure I'd have to grind the calipers a bit. Just looking for an answer.

I really like the "Advise on Wheels" business name. HHHHMMMMM.

I've been told that if you run 15" 8 lug rims that you may need to do some grinding on the front disk caliper in order for the smallish rim to clear.

They should fit. But like brian said some griding my be in order. My buddy runs 15in 8 lug rims on his 97 dodge and didnt have to grind anything off so you might get lucky.

I don't know if the wheels you are looking at are aluminum or not, but a caution with Ford aluminum wheels.

I bought an '88 YJ that came with Ford aluminum wheels, likely from a Bronco II. Drove it one day and had a sound and wobble getting worse, like a flat tire with no pop warning. The front passenger wheel coming off the hub! Found out later that those particular Ford wheels required a special lug nut with a hemispherical ridge. Price at the Ford service desk was outrageous, something like $40.00 to $80.00. Torqued the ones I had to 110 lb-ft (10 or 20 over recommendations) and didn't have them come off, but then I was worried about the lugs.

Thanks. I figured they would fit with some grinding but just wanted to make sure before I went and grabbed another set of rims for the YJ.

No aluminum wheels here guys, only steel. Rocks tend to chew on the aluminum just a little too much.

Thanks again.
