I was visiting some friends in Alaska last week and as we were driving to one of their friends houses we drove by a nice looking white Wag. I think my friends thought I was crazy when I had them stop so I could take a picture. We were in Eagle River. The Jeep had what looked like a Tad rack on it along with a BJ's sticker.
I was surprised that I didn't see more of them while I was up there.
Here's the pic. If it's yours and you want it off let me know.

Anywhere around Anchorage they salt the roads pretty heavy so....
I actually built my '65 truck more for the ultimate moose hunting machine, after a build I really liked on a highboy Ford that a guy used to cross rivers near my fishing camp and he took 2nd in a State mudbog competition. Some day my truck may see duty up there hauling moose out.

I'm sorry father. I'll have to post them tonight.

Plus you'd have an easier time finding parts for a 185 Cessna.

The people we were visiting said they didn't put too much salt down. In most areas they use sand. Sometimes they will add a little salt to it.

Nice rig, I only live a little under 200 miles south of Eagle River. As far as salt goes, we mostly use sand up here.

Nice pics!
Probably you didn't see so many, because they will go out with the cold! Not in the summer!!! :D:D:D

Fairbanks sand
I was told they stop use salt because of the animal. The animals would stand in road and lick the salt up!

That would make sense. I saw a sign that said 278 Moose had been killed this winter.

Yeah... unless you are looking for a set of cheaper floats that don't leak...

Not like they do in the East, but it's enough. They rarely even have to sand because it's usually (haven't been up there for a couple years) so dry the ice/snow stays crystalized and you actually get decent traction and most folks run studs all the way around. If you drive a Subaru you can get by on all season tires most of the time.

It's easier walking on the road, that's why the train kills so many moose... I think 700 one year...

I wish I would have noticed that when I was there. I would have stopped and talked to the them.
