I went to change the oil pan gasket today since mine was leaking pretty badly. Holy #%^&$^( it was almost glued on the gasket was hard as a rock, the pan was so stuck I had to use a pry bar on the front lip and bent pan lip before it let go. Had to take out starter to get to last bolt and trans shield has a point that sticks out to help catch the pan keep it from dropping when your putting it in or out...Not to mention had to jack the truck up by the frame so the suspension would hang down so I could get the pan out... AHHHHHHHHHHH

ouch... finally let go cracked my elbow, finger, and forearm on lower part of engine and brackets....

fixed, cleaned, painted and filled with oil.. all is well.

things I have fixed in two days..
new motor mounts - pain in the @*$. came out easy, they were toasted, they were a pain to get back in.
New oil pan gasket, and repaint oil pan, oil change, and filter... done lost one bolt but replaced it and all is good.

next is rear window crank... and front warn 4x4 locking hubs and off road lights should be easy but will probably change the bearings while I'm in there not sure. depends on if they are loose or not...

on a side note I found a lot of slivers of metal flakes in my oil pan... nothing seem to be broken and it hasn't been running funny... so i will post a pic of what i found tomorrow.. too tired tonight to get pics...

Sounds epic, man.

I spent the day trying to get to the clutch on my '85 VW Jette diesel. In particular, 4.5 hours just trying to separate the trans from the engine. The German engineers' ancestry has been thoroughly questioned today...it's beer-thirty now though. I'll hit it again tomorrow I suppose.

Yup. That's usually how those oil pan R&R's go. :-/

Had to lift up the frame on my 77 Cherokee to change out the oil pan as well a couple of months ago. Sort of a pain just to change an oil pan gasket if you ask me.

If you put a lift on your jeep, the pan is easer to remove.;)
