Well four years after i bought it, I finally got my J10 home a couple days ago. Its been sitting about ten years, so the list of issues is long. Its non-running at the moment, need to charge the battery, starter is bad, holes in the radiator, and who knows what else.
The interior is decent, floors are solid, but with surface rust inside and out. Front clip is good except the hood, cab looks rust free from the outside except for the driver side rocker. Bed is gone, i was thinking i might be able to salvage it, but the floor is rusted out in the front corners and the whole thing is sagging bad. The sides are rusted out at the seems, but the flares are perfect, so I'll be cutting those off and saving them.
I'm debating whether to try and get it running or just start tearing it down, since I'm planning a full resto. I'd like to have it torn apart and stored in the garage before winter, then I'll start collecting the parts I need so I can start the resto in the spring. The plan is to rebuild the 360 to 70-71 4bl specs, so something like 295bhp, 395 lb ft, with a Comp Cam and dual exhaust. 2in lift with 31 or 32in BFG ATs, and maybe 3.92 or 4.10 gears.
I'm gonna stay with the Reef Green and white scheme with green interior, but I'm not sure about keeping those stripes. I'm thinking about adding some stainless steel trim to separate the colors.
