So, after my first drive in my 91 waggy last night. I realized the side mirrors are really small. Has anyone upgraded to something bigger?

Some people have done a swap to '93-96 F150/Bronco mirrors with fairly good success.

Search the River Beast build. I think it has the best bronc mirror pics I've seen if I am remembering correctly.

Smiff, are those the bronco mirrors or something else? I really like those. I would prefer bigger mirrors but not full size. Those look good.

Those are the bronco mirrors. There is a link to a writeup somewhere around here, I just can't find it right now.

I just put my F150 mirrors on. I have not driven it yet, but they seem a little floppy. I might need to reinforce the door. The driver's mirror is cut off by the vent divider about 1/4 on the inside, but still a great improvement over the little mirrors. I can see the entire passenger mirror through the vent glass.

I removed the stock rear view mirror and installed a 5 panel "wink" mirror. Now I hardly rely on my side view mirrors. With all the glass in the GW the wink mirror gives me a full view of both sides and rear. Many racers use them and there inexpensive.

That's my 88 posted earlier. Somewhere on here is a build thread on them. I used mid 90's Bronco electric mirrors and wired them into the stock mirror controls They do make them in manual type also. Here's a pic of one of them folded in... Very handy since I was at a 22degree side slope (the pic doesn't show it that well)

as for the "bronco mirrors" being floppy, they're pretty much always like that from what i've seen on my 92 f150 and my brothers 92 bronco.

I never had that issue when I had a 96 F150. You have to cut off the reinforcement bar to fit them on an FSJ, and I used self tapping screws. Also the door skin is not exaclty flat right there. I might be able to stiffen it up a bit by bolting through and using a backer plate.

I actually used those mirrors as well. They worked out perfect. To stiffen them I used jack nuts and allen headed machine screws to attach them. The jack nuts come coated with plastic so they don't scratch the door and the best part is you push them in from the outside. Mount your mirror, tighten the screws and the nuts tighten themselves down like a wall anchor. They sell really nice heavy duty ones at NAPA.

Someone here mounted a set of new Toyota FJ mirrors. Tall, satin silver finish, with the running lights molded in. Looked sharp. I use Chevy truck mirrors. I have used the Wink full-width rear view mirror, and the view is great, but I had to rig a center support to stop vibration.
