Been lurking for a while and figure I should introduce myself. My name's Dave and I have a problem....... oops forgot what I was doing (or did I;) ) I grew up in a house that there were two different brands of vehicles you could choose from Jeep or Willys (not much of a choice). My dad has a 77 J10 that I have loved for as long as I can remember and had it been left up to me I would've been driving an FSJ from 16, instead I had a comanche, which was still very fun. Well I finally got a hold of my FSJ and boy did I get a pretty one, it's an 83 J10 with a 258/904/NP208. The Prior Owner decided to do some "body work" to it and aluminum sheet metal was pop riveted and then brown paint was applied via paint brush. I plan on trying to repair the rust as time/money allows. It drives down the road great, and with the fresh carb rebuild hopefully will be getting a little better gas mileage too. I'm glad you guys are here I've found the site both helpful and interesting, I love some of the history I've read about. Oh I plan on trying to replace the grill with a Rhino grill (happen to have one) once I find headlight buckets, I forgot to pull them when I pulled the grill.
here's a pic of it

Welcome from the Valley of the Sun.
To bad you don't live closer, I have an 82' J-20 parts truck the same color as yours with zero rust, well from the cab back anyway.

Welcome from the rust belt! - I have an 81 j20 box is semi decent shape - repairable, less tailgate, it is in the 4 sale section, probably buried several pages back.

Welcome -- a few of us are just south of you in Wisconsin and over the border in Illinois. That looks like a nice project.

Welcome! I'm not far off from where you're from, I work in the Wausau area and go home to Wisconsin Rapids on the weekends. I have an extra round headlight bucket as I got 3 from Coppertone (another central WI jeeper) for my razor conversion. If you're having trouble finding some I bet he has at least 1-2 extra ones somewhere.
