I drove my waggy for the first time, in summer time since I have bought my Wagoneer, I drove with my windows up. I finally have a working AC system!!!! So sweet.

Now I just need to figure out why the wire running to the compressor clutch is Always hot even when i have the dash control in the off position.

Congrats. I too am chasing electrical gremlins associated with my a/c. Once those are slain, then I can throw a charge on my system and bask in my own private winter, or something like that. Good Luck!

Congratulations.
By hot I assume you are saying its live all the time and not thermal.

Yes for some reason whether I set the ac of or not that line is hot (electrically) at all times. I would like to be able to turn off my ac (disengage the clutch) without having to get out and open the hood

Any help for a guy who's got two cans of R-12 and no idea how to install it? I have the kit with the can topper and a hose but where do you hook-up the hose?

I was perusing the wiring diagram and noticed you have one of those funky A/C control modules under your dash. The feed to the compressor comes from that.

I have been so tickled by the fact that I actually have ac that I picked up a small cooking thermometer and have been taking readings. During the day with the high heat (close to 100 now here) its spitting out about 60 deg air... at the dusk ont he way home from work my thermometer read 30 degs..... I am in love!

Its also almost disheartening how much quiter it is without all the windows down. Don't get me wrong my rig still has alot of road noise but I have been making long distance trips with the windows rolled down for close to 3 years now. AC rules!

Are you still using R12 or R134? I'm still working on installing AC on my J20 that never had it.

134 I don't know if someone converted it or if it was 134 factory but my system has always been set up for134 since I bought it from budgolf

I do not think any were R134 from the factory, even the last production year, the 88 wag I also have is R134, but when I bought it I was told it was a conversion.

Well good stuff. Every FSJ I have owned has had 134 fittings. Even that 80 cherokee I had was fitted with 134. this is the first time I have had a functioning ac though.
