just got my "new" 360 from lightnin but doesnt have a flexplate on it. I've got 2 304's with em can I just swap em? I seem to recall something about balancing being different from a 304-360.
Also is there a such a thing as a HD 360,its a 76 with the emission label on the air cleaner that reads 360 HD or are they all HD? Heavy duty? hopefully not Hydro locked Dang it.

The 360 flex plate for the t400 looks like a 3 spoke wheel with one hole mostly filled in to act as the balance weight and the 727 one is solid with a weight welded to it. The 258 one for the 727 is solid but with no weight.
Hope this sort of helps.

No, you can not use the flexplate from one size AMC motor on a different size. The motors are externally balanced so all the plates are different between sizes.
The HD is for heavy duty emissions which there was no catalytic converter.

jeepbob is right. They all have different balance points and weights on the flexplate. I suppose you could use one from a 304 in a jam, but the downfalls are more than I would be willing to risk, especially if it's a new motor. Excessive wear on the main bearings being the biggest! Same goes for the harmonic balancer. All those are differently balanced as well.
