I cannot decide! I have and 81 J10 sportside and I really like all three but can't decide what would look best on a browless! (you browed guys pipe down I like em) And on a J10.
Here are the choices. I am fortunate enough to have the valance and hoods to match all three so all would look good once I paint. And all three are in great condition. With all do respect to the other grilles the choice is between these only!
Truck will most likely be painted Impact Orange (a j/k color from 2002)
Order in my current preference. Pros and cons.
Rhino. -classic look and look good on a J truck but not sure how it will look with the sportside. But the do look good!
Muscle (mine has the black inserts) I have seen these inserts painted to match the truck and it looks great, but not tough enough and I want my truck to look older.
Razor classic truck look and look good on a J truck but not sure what it will look like on a browless.

Well i think if you want your truck to look old, then i would suggest you to go for the razor classic look.It would give the truck old look.

Eh; if you want it to look old, go with the Rhino. Less old, go with the Razor, and I like the Muscle look, personally.

You forgot the egg crate/boobie grill
I have a razor now, getting ready for another rhinoplasty.
To Egg crate/boobie grill
I voted "razor" then remembered I had a rhino on my old (browless) mud truck...

This is why pics are needed. This is a good look for a browless.

I'd suggest going muscle or pignose to keep it in the era of the browless truck.

The same truck had a razor on it when I purchased it, I'll see if I can dig u a photo tonight.
I voted razor.. I do like the look of the muscle.. and after a thread someone posted about putting amx signal lenses in an egg crate.. I'm waffling.. I suppose the bigger question would be.. square or round?:D

I voted Muscle I love the Muscle, especially converted to round headlights, then they look like razor on steroids. Leave the inserts black - or go chrome.
Browless does not work with a Rhino

I had the J20 with the OEM Muscle grill. Liked it, but I loved how the Rhino looked and thats why I swapped it into mine.

ok how do you convert a muscle to round headlights? Anyone have a pic?
I'm a big fan of the razor. Though the muscle with black inserts looks good on my '86.
The only razor photo I found was the ebay auction picture, hope it helps.

I really appreciate everyone's passion for their favorite grille, but there is already a poll for favorite grilles. I am only entertaining the 3 grilles listed. No eggcrates, pignose, boobie etc.
I am asking for your opinion on the 3 listed on my 81 J10 sportside.

Razor, without question. Just looks "right" on a J-truck, brow or no brow.
Waggy's and Chero's don't have brows either, and they take well to the razor too.

I've got a rhino on my wag now, and it does look a little different in person than I'd imagined. Part of the difference is how far out the new headlamps stick out from the bezel, but regular lamps won't have that issue. Love the diamond plate cutouts instead of pie plates in the pic above.
I've seen J-trucks up close with both rhinos and razors, and for me Razor wins all the way. I love the look of the razor grille, and if I had a second FSJ I'd probably be hunting one down for it.

Okay; stupid question: Can't you just use round-headlight bezels from a Razor and put them on a Muscle? instead of the method used for the above look?

The razor bezels are more square and the muscle bezels are more rectangle so there would be gaps. Each grille should keep it's respective headlights....new Jeep law.

I've had all three on my truck. To my eye the Rhino looks best with the jacked up, off-road, utilitarian look...and with a brow cab. When I switched the truck from mud to street tires and dropped the front end for a cleaner "street" look, the razor helped carry off a wider hunkered down appearance. Personal preference of course.

I'd say out of the three go w/ a Razor. Personally, I'm sticking a Cheesegrater on my J truck. I love the look of those things.

I voted for the "Muscle" grill since that's my deep favorite,
but if you really wanted it to look old you should have bought and old truck with a Brow. :D

Usually, I'd say rhino all the way, I've had that style on wagons and trucks, but this truck is a great argument to persuade me that it all depends on the "look" of the truck/jeep. It looks tough.

If you have all 3 then use all 3. Not a whole lot of trouble to swap the grilles around plus it's an easy way to change the look of your Jeep. Another bonus is you can mess with folks minds that see the Jeep on a daily basis. ;)

I have been into FSJ's and have owned FSJ's for over 35 years. My thoughts:
All Browed FSJ trucks look best with a Rhino.
Browless FSJ trucks look best with a Razor.
All Cherokee and Wagoneers look best with a Razor.
If it has a Brow go Rhino, if it is is Browless go Razor.
All of that said, I personally think Browless FSJ trucks are wanna bee's.
If its a truck, its gotta have a Brow.

I beg to differ, a browless cab CAN look good with a Rhino. It's all in the details. If you get the details right, it will look good.

Any grille/headlight combo can be used with a little bit of ingenuity. My 88 GW is on its third facelift now. The factory look, then it had a razor with factory square headlights, now it has a rhino with round headlights. For the most part, the front valances on these things only had minor changes, so all of the grilles are compatible. Some just require minor mods to make work. Pick the one you like, and when you get it, fit it up and see what you need to make it work.

Hey Crawler! You pretty much have one of each right? Just position them in place and see which one you like!
Seriously, I really like the Gladiator picture Krek posted, but I seem to remember you telling me that you weren't sure if the Gladiator would look right on your truck due to the wrinkling in the core supports in the later years due to Jeep using the same molds.
I think that might be a valid concern, and for that reason I think the Razor might be the way to go as it will cover more and still look great.
I don't know about all this brow/no brow stuff. I think you need to weigh how much trouble the wrinkles will be to fix or if they will even bother you, along with what your own personal preference is.
Either way, you can't lose!
