I have a turbo 400 trans hooked to a Quadratrac transfer case. I want to hook it up to a dana 20 case that was originally behind a 3 spd tranny. What will it take to mate the 400 to the 20? I will rebuild the T400 anyway so if the output shaft has to be replaced its not an issue. Has any one done this that can tell me exactly the parts I will need and maybe where the best source is for the needed parts? Thanks! Hohner

You will need a new output shaft, tranny-to-tcase adapter and a different input gear for the tcase.

I would advise: the Advance Adapters kit. It has a much stronger adapter than the factory unit. Its expensive, but its worth the peace of mind. Plus, you'll spend some time trying to track down the factory parts and have to hope the factory adapter isn't cracked. So, for the extra money the Advance kit will cost over the cost of what you'll pay someone for the factory stuff, you'll be way ahead IMHO.

I don't think the Advance kit comes with the tcase input gear. You'll have to find one of those youself.

I have done this and so have others on here. This is the best place to get the adapter and all parts that you need http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_124.htm I have the factory adapter. I am on my second one and that one is broken also. I split the first one down the middle and this one I broke off one of the mounting tabs that go to the crossmember. So I HIGHLY recommend the Novak kit. I will be getting it soon a I get back (that is if I keep this wag).

I'll have to go with Novaks over AA....

I am also on my 2nd factory adapter... and fear that I might need a third once I'm back on the trails again....it lasted one hard day ( not even) in Ouray last year...

I am saving pennies for the Novak adapter.... not the kit cuz I only need the adapter.

I would get the adapter right now but since I have been home I have pretty much remodeled the house so I spent a lot of money of that. And I bought a new computer :D . I will have more then enough $ when I get back to follow through with "my plans" HA HA HA HA HA HA (evil laugh)!!!!

if ya go with a novak kit(wich is whad id reccomend as well due to the factory adapter breakage issue) you wont need a new input gear to mate the d20 that was behind a 3 speed(presumably a t15 otr t150) as the novak kit can be gotten with the appropriate 6 spline tailshaft smile.gif

so,from RBs comment, the novak adapetr is the same dimmensions as the factory deal? so it works with the factory spudshaft and tailsahft?
