Ok, first off, I hate my front crap Diamond spring smile.gif, so I was thinking to trash them and get some stock jeep front springs and doing a spring over, but dont have any springs, and no money.

so I got to thinking, my dad lifted his chevy last year, so maybe I could use his stock front springs on a SOA on my jeep, I measured them yesterday, and they are the same lenght and width as mine. does anybody see a problem with this?

I know most SOA give about 5 to 6 inches of lift, but the chevy springs being reverse arch should equal out to bout the same as my rear, right? Maybe? and should give a good amount of flex.

ANy ideas?

thanks

sounds good.. but I would take a little extra time and measure the height of you rrig now.. then install the the springs as the stock ones and remeasure the height. Thsi will give you an idea of what you will gain with the springs along if anything.

The hasty install of the springs does not have to be complete either... just ubolts on the axle would do to get a measurement.

Check the bushing sizes to ensure the spring eye bolts will work and not be 'sloppy'.

thanks for the info Todd. I was kinda wondering how much actuall lift I would get, but couldnt figure out exactly how to do it, I should of known that you would know how :D ;)

the bushings on the chevy springs are actually wider than mine, so I would have to change the bushings out. What do you think about doing a shackle reversal while I have it apart?

Thanks again

I'm not a big fan of the shackle reversal.. you may gain the comfort on pavement... but in my opinion, you lose the performance off-road.... I have heard that guys doing this reversal saying that they like it better the way it was for off-roading... it has to do with the way the suspension works. the way it is now... the front end is forced into an obstacle and wants to go up and over it... where the reverse setup actually 'gives' into the obstacle...best way I can explain it... maybe others will chime in....

I think a shackle reversal is out, I actually never heard any body say anything good bout it, just what I read in the magazines. I havent had a chance to do much measuring yet, but I am concerned about steering with the spring over. what does everybody do with their steering with a spring over? I am going to do some comparison measuring tomorrow with my brothers truck since his isnt lifted yet. anyway thanks for the info.

My new chero has chevy springs and an SAO, and rear shackle inversion... I have 2 inches less lift than todd. I'm pretty sure the springs are stock chevy... imagine going with a 6" lift... :D
