Hi,
I've got a 79 cj-7 with the 360. I'm going to do the ignition upgrade with the bits from an 84 F-350. Can I go to a larger plug gap than that recommended from the factory ? Is there any benefit to doing that ?

try opening it up to about .045. if that works ok, open it up .005 more and try again. keep going 'till it messes up.

If you're doing the TFI upgrade, and it sounds like you are, you should increase the gap to .045". There are benefits to increased spark gap. The stock ignition can't fire the plugs passed roughly the stock gap of .035" but the TFI coil can. Increased spark gap gives a more efficient burn in cylinders.
