I was worried as I sat in Enumclaw, no one was showing and my spirets down, but as I said I am to do this no matter... Then comes the 78 wagoneer into my sights as my spirets build and I meet Wayne, and it is on as we talk.... Waynne is a man of few words and as I find out a excellent cook...As we head out of Enumclaw a couple of 401's roaring as we make out departure... We head up to east of Greenwater to 74 to 75 and make out way over Huckleberry ridge to Haller pass for some shots and to show Wayne suntop where we are to camp, hours from now....
Mt. Rainier is out in all her glory as are all the mountains, God it was just a to perfect day as we made our way to Lonesome lake, I mean it was full of photo ops and took so many that my camera died along the way...
we made it to Lonesome lake and enjoyed a great lunch and small hike in the area, man the lake was perfect. I was jelious of a guy with a fishin pole as we were heading back to the Jeeps...thinking yes that is the way I would love to spend my day...
We headed back of the mountian to FS-73 which takes accross the mountain west to east, and then dumps us into the Huckleberry creek valley, words cannot explain the sights, and pictures lack what words miss, totaly rugged and beautiful...
We picked up 7315 which took us up to suntop...4000feet in 4 miles which is a real pull...My 401 had some problems while waynes new electric pump proved very valuable, we reached temps of 240 deg as we climbed this pull and close to the top decided to stop and cool of the systems....
We decided to camp here, with wayne ability to have a 1 match fire going..well done "One Match Wayne" which burned late into the night and cooked our meal of steak, kilbassa, and beans...hmmmmm so good...
We hit th sack at sun down, me being so burned out with the weather we are having, I dropped off like a light as I slept out side, Wayne in his rig....
Morning rose with a perfect sun, Wayne was up as I packed my sleeping gear...Wayne suprised me with eggs, bacon and raisin muffins for breakfast and I had no choice but to accept... we packed the gear and went up to the top of sun top...Total blow your mind place....
I left with wayne wanting to go exploreing with me into the very deep and high mountains of Huckleberry Mountain range, we spent a few hours exploring till it was time to get out of the sun and back to our homes...
I want to say thanks to Wayne, we had a great time and we will be doing more in the future....
For those that did not make it...I am sorry...everything from weather to trails to people was fantastic and please try to come on the next run..
