i will be converting my 14b axle to discs. this will leave me with no parking brake unless i use the el dorado calipers which i heard were weak anyways, so my best bet is to put a disc bake on the np205. main question is when i have my truck inspected do you think they'll check for a parking brake or can i wait till the funds are more readily available?
What's the reason for the inspection? If it's a safety inspection then yes they will if it's just for smog/emissions compliance then prolly not.

jeep body onto chevy frame
jeep body onto chevy frameSo you're essentially applying for a brand new VIN assignment and title. It's been 30 years since I've lived in Spokane county and never done it with 4 wheeler but been that route with a motorcycle. Man.. they're gonna want to check stuff you never heard of! For what you want to do I suggest get ALL your duck's in a row mechinically and paperwork. State Patrol used to do those inspections and they aren't the happiest bunch of folks I ever met.
Good luck

Everything on this truck is being rebuilt. from axles to motor, tcase. tranny is fine, complete rewire custom bumpers. i suppose i could hold off on the disc swap and have it inspected with the stock drums and convert later, just kinda wanted to do it while it was down to the frame

Been my experience they won't inspect a project. It has to be fully assembled. Don't have to be running but it's gotta be complete. You really need to call them and get the up to date rules/regulations.

Oh sorry didn't mean have it inspected while down to the frame meant do the brakes. It won't go to inspection until its finished and driveable
Just a thought.
When you talk to the licensing folks you may want to ask them about the shaft brake you're considering. It'll qualify for a parking brake but if required may not as an emergency brake.

I think ill just stick with the drum brakes and stock parking brake setup until the inspection is done and over

Are you putting a Jeep body on the chevy frame?

Yes I am. Better parts availability and my Chevy has far bested my jeep in reliability. And I welcome the power steering and my 450 HP 383.

That's the way, then... the driveline brake is actually stronger but you won't have to confuse poor State workers with details/math.

Originally the el dorado calipers looked like they'd do the job til I spent 2 hours reading about them. No one recommended them said the e brake function isn't very strong and they don't like mud which is what this truck will see a lot of
