Bumper Compatibility

Just wondering if the front/rear bumpers off a 78 Wagoneer would fit on a 79 Cherokee Chief W/T...I know the W/T is 3 inches wider but would a wagoneer bumper fit just being a smidge tighter?

My front bumper is an aluminum one with the stock brush guard attached and is rotting really bad. As for the rear its just some angle iron welded together to make a rectangle then covered with sheet metal, nothing pretty. Also are the stock brush guards desirable? If I can find a replacement bumper I won't be needing mine.

I would like to get in on the brush guards. Not sure about the fitment other than my Waggy bumper seems to already be filled out. Pics would be nice.

The 3 pc. bumpers are made in a way to fit WT or NT in the front with variety of mount holes. The rears are all the same width because the flared area in the back does not got down to the bumper. The 1 pc. and 3 pc. bumpers have different mount arrangement that can be dealt with pretty easily.

So a 3 piece front bumper has additional mounting holes to "spread" it and fit a WT front end? So besides that detail the front/rear should mount up to the frame holes no problem?

Yes, the carriage bolts holding the 3 pieces together can be undone and the pieces can be spread out to extend the width but I don't know if the mounts to the frame are the same as the later one piece bumpers?
