So my transmission is being worked on by my local independent auto transmission shop (just a 1 man show).

He had two questions for me that I couldn't immediately answer. The first problem he found was that the transmission to transfer case adapter was broken where it would bolt into the transmission cross member -- This is an aluminum piece and he asked if anyone made a steel version?

His second question was if there was a source for the gasket that goes between the quadratrac and the th400? If no source what is the best way to seal it?

thanks -- Bob

I believe Novak or AA makes a better upgraded version of the Th400/QT mounting adaptor. Break out your credit card because it's stupid expensive.

BJ's sells a full gasket kit for 25 bux or so..gaskets and seals (tell him not to drag the QT off the TH400 output shaft or it will ruin the seal..new or not.

There is no steel version of the T400/QT adapter available. I don't think anyone makes the aluminum ones new either.

The gaskets you speak of... There is a gasket on each side of the QT adapter. The one on the T400 side is very thin paper - I make that one myself. The one on the QT side of the adapter - I make that one too but out of 1/16" gasket paper. That one comes with the QT seal kit but I do not use them.

X2 on the seals Ryan mentioned. It is best to NEVER let the QT hang on the tranny tailshaft for any reason. I use long bolts through the adapter to help guide the QT onto the tranny. Long threaded rods or all thread would work too.

I am sorry..it is the Th400-d20 adaptor that Novak makes, not a QT version.
