On my 87 FSJ the temp control lever will not go all the way either way hot or cold it only goes about 75%is this normal or am I pulling the dash also on the right side of the steering wheel in between the 2 air out lets there is a small square place with two 1/2 holes somthing must have went there but what? Don in Virginia

Don, I think the small holes are where the controls used to be. Can you snap a picture?

Don, since you have an 87, your A/C control should be with the heater and fan control next to the radio on the dash. Your A/C housing might have been swapped in from another Jeep, as the earlier models, probably up to 85 had a temp control, and fan control for the A/C mounted between the vents on the a/c housing. Later models such as yours would have had a square block off plate there, instead of the plate with the holes in it. As for why your temp lever won't move..something sounds mechanically wrong with it...as it's just a vacumn controlled climate control switch. There's no pulling the whole dash, as all you remove is the black bezel that surrounds your instrumentation, and the climate control panel should be mounted with two screws..
