Got my new J20 home today. It's a 1977 8600 gvw work horse. Originally came equipped with 360 4bbl and t18/d20 tranny t-case combo. Motor is not in it and the trans is long gone. It came with a boatload of extra parts, most from an '84 J20 and included an adaptor to run a 700r trans and 208 passenger drop case. Trans and case came with it, so I'm guessing I'll run it. I have a nice 360 4bbl to drop in it, but may try to find a t18/d20 combo to put back in it. Still has the clutch pedal and I do like driving a manual trans truck. All I know is I like it!

I've always thought a Wag or Chero with that type of J Truck two tone would look good, and those that don't know these lie we do would think it was factory.

Yeah, this one is amazingly clean. Originally from the pacific northwest, PO had it shipped here. He cleaned and painted 1/2 the frame and reinstalled the box with 1" lift blocks. I'll do the same for the cab, then leave the rest stock. I love the old two tone schemes, especially for pick ups.

My 87 will be two tone, but the box I found had the chrome on it, and I have cab chrome from another, so it will be split at the chrome, origional dark gray on top, silver at the bottom.

If you do go with the T-18, I might be interested in your 700R4 adapter...

Looks like an old pack mule with plenty of pack left. I'll have to do a drive by I'll be in the area in a couple of weeks.

Hey Rick, that is a perfect analogy! Try to save a little time when you're here, I'm buyin'!
