Yet another question for everyone out there. This one is in regards to a rear diff situation I have. The rear diff that I pulled out of the Cummins donor truck is @#$%'d so I am looking at different replacements.

I thought that I had scored a D60 out of an old mid 80s Dodge but it turns out - atleast from the research that I have done - that it is a 9.25  now the fact that it is a 8lug diff makes me think that it might be able to handle the power of the Cummins, but I am hoping that someone has some experience with this diff and can give me some insight.

Thanks for any help in advance

The only 8-lug 9.25's I've ever worked with were out of 3/4 ton Ram Vans. We used to have a million of the things in the fleet, before GSA took them all. All-in-all they're not bad axles. But from what I've seen and read Dodge only used either D60's or D70's in there Cummin's powered trucks. But in the first couple of years of the 1st gen Cummin's trucks a 9.25" 8-lug axle was still available(they abandoned it in all but the 1/2 ton trucks later) in the 3/4 ton model. So maybe you got a donor truck that beats the rule or something that someone's swapped stuff on before, I sure don't know. But if it was me, I'd at least look for a D60.

Thanks Chumley! Ya I was hoping to go with the Dana 70 that was in the donor truck but it is no good. Trying to find the same thing is turning out to be a much harder task then I thought it would.

Found a few of these 9.25s and just wondering if they would be any good for a replacement. Maybe I will just keep searching.

I like the Corporate 9.25. They're fairly strong, and hold up well for most things, but they are a c-clip style axle, so if you're going to do some serious wheeling with it, you may want to continue your search. Not just because of the c-clips, but also because there are not as many aftermarket parts available for it.

I have a factory 8 lug 9 1/4 with 3.90 gears in my '91 Dodge W250.
