I have a 86 GW that needs a hood and grille. What year parts will work?? I'm fairly sure that any year grille will work as long as I get the corresponding light assemblies. I'm not sure on the hood though. Will I need a hood off same year as the grille so it will all fit up,or will any hood work?? Thanks for any help!

Any grill from 1979 wagoneer, chero, or truck should work with no modifications. The hood changed just a smidgen in 79 with the new grill. There is not a horizontal bar under the front of the hood (where hood latch is). Vehicles with the round lights had the horizontal bar to basically cover a gap between the hood and latch. The 79 grills were shaped up into that space. The 78 or earlier hoods can have that bar removed as they are only mounted with bolts and nuts. So, bottom line, I think any of them could be made to fit with a few adaptations.

I have a 79 J-10 and put an 82 wag grill on it. The top of the grill is about 1" lower than the 79 but it's not noticable unless you are going to show it in an antique car club. I'll post a picture of my truck if I knew how to attach it to a post. Suggestions please!
