when to rebuild

my wagioneer has 170,000 miles and running good except for using oil when its time for a flud change. So is it better to rebuild the engine and tranny in the near future or to wait till it starts to go down hill.

If you have the money and can spare it, why not rebuild it now? Better to beat your truck to it before it self-destructs at the worst time.
