Fits in there something like this:

Give or take. (only one or two special parts)

QT rigs have a special LONG 10 spline outputshaft that only works with the BW QT. You would need to swap tailshafts to make it work. The TH400 out of the GMC will not bolt up to your AMC engine without an adapter plate due to different bellhousing bolt patterns

Details, details :p , don't confuse the issues with facts.

LOL, how did you address the tailshaft issue? Did you swap shafts or did it come with a D20?

The tail shaft is a stock GM short shaft ~1" shorter than what he has in the Burban Th400 swpped into the AMC case, hence the short adapter to make more fuel tank clearance room and clock it up, so it does not hang below the cross member.
Other than that it is a pure bolt in deal.

I swapped an Np241D behind my T-18. Your NP241C is either 27 or 32 spline. I can't remember right now whether the 32 spline corresponds to the Th400 or 4l80e. i think you'd have decent luck just getting an adapter to bolt the GM TH400 up to your AMC motor, rather than swapping outputs to bolt the GM tcase to the Jeep 400.

Just get a measuring tape, and take some detailed measurements to see if it'll all fit.

first off thanks for all the responses, definitely some good information
mdill what did you get the GM tail shaft out of and where did you come up with your adaptor? and how about driveshafts? stock? also can someone quick fill me in on the difference between a 241d and 241c? just for curiosity.

the letter at the end stands for what make vehicle it came out of...

c- chevy
d- dodge
j- jeep

and so on. They all have minor differences, such as spline input, output splines, etc.

The 241C vs. 241D (Chevy vs. Dodge) (Assuming we are talking about pass drop versions)
Pretty much they are the same, 90% of stuff anyway.
Differences are
Different front adapter bolt clocking
Same input gear but splined differently (can swap gears to get the spine count you need)
Shift rail is not in the same spot on both (can't swap case or output housings between them)
241D has a Yoke rear output, 241C has a slip yoke
241D uses the case bolts to mount and stabilize front right side of case, 214C uses a strut rod.

Personally I might swap over to a 241D, with the 214C I did not push putting in a 241D due to the time line, what I thought I knew at the time ...
The only reason I would do this is to get a rear yoke in a way that used OEM (dodge in this case parts) vs. the JB kit.

Swapping the tranny output shaft is no big deal, these are all 30+ year old tranny's, running one without opening up and freshening it up is dumb IMHO, since the guts are all out, when you do that, swap in the new shaft.

I used a new short TH400 output shaft, they are pretty cheap, vs. time and $'s hunting for a used one. (maybe $90 on my door step)

The adapter/mount plate is cut from a chunk of 6061-T6.

The drive lines were built to match, again just like not freshening the tranny when you are swapping stuff, not having good drive lines wastes $'s and time, ~ same $'s to have your slip joints replaced as it is to lengthen/shorten the shaft and replace the slip joints.

Any clear data that shows which NP241 will directly bolt up to the 4L80e ?

I saw something that incinuated that you could get an NP242 to do this and there were differences between the 242HD vs the 242AMG (hummer version).

For my specific situation I'm looking for a passenger side drop.

You need a 32 input on the TC to mate up with the 4L80E.

Any 241C (that came with a 32 spline input) should bolt up to a stock 4X4 4L80. 241C's with 32 spline inputs came behind Th-400's , NV3500's, NV4500's, 4L80's and I assmue 6L80's (I have not seen a 6L80 yet).
The only pass drop 241C's were in Blazers and Burbans 88(rumor has it some got them in 88) ->93 (?). The only ones with mechanical speedometer cable drives were 88(if they exist) and 89.
Maybe some 88+ solid front axle 1 ton trucks also got them, but I think they all got 205's.

So I should look for an '89-'93 Suburban ... most ideally an '89 ... and the hunt is on! :dancingbanana:

If anybody finds a 6L80 holding their door open lemmme know and I'll be there ASAP to remove it for ya. ;)
