Still sitting on the trailer (yesterday was a 14 hour day).
This should link to the Villagephotos album. (Key word being SHOULD)

Some rust in one of the wheel wells (passenger side rear), some scrapes and dents (it did see some rough trails). Windows all roll up and down - locks a bit stiff but functional. Carb leaks like crazy, as does the rear main seal, and the RATS chewed through the ignition wire. Interior pretty good - driver side seat has some splitting.

Nice! My favorite grille. That is a beauty in spite of it's age. What is the story on the Rambler wagon in the first picture? Looks like a 65/66 Ambassador or Classic.
Very nice, looks like it made the trip just fine.
I'll be up there next weekend for a wedding, shoot me a PM if you want someone to come poke around on it with you folks.

What a great offer, Tad. I hate to pull you away from a wedding - but will send a PM with our phone and location - if you want to get out of doing the Hokey Pokey - come on over.

That first pic of the waggy with the rambler was just the way I thought it would be sitting (in Bishop you said?).
But still nice rig.

The Rambler wagon in the first picture is my Lovely Rita, which is about half way through her own restoration.
1965 Ambassador Cross Country 990 .
Here's her website:

The Ambassador and the Wagoneer were our family vehicles back in the day (yup - back in Bishop) - and now I have the chance to get them both back on the road. There is one more family relic left - my grandfather's 1973 Amb four door...but I don't think it's in the works for us to get that one going again - love to find a new home for it.

Thanks! I think it's going to be fun. Find is "relative"...literally - it's been sitting out at my Dad's place for years. My parents bought it new, and I drove this car in 1976 when I got my learner's permit! The last time it was driven off the property was 2005. I didn't have to go very far to find it - just convince my husband to let me drag it home - it's going to be our son's first car.

Those are nice cars. I like the Rambler too: "Give us a wink and make us think of you ... Rita!" :)
Body damage is cool. :fsj:
The Wagoneer is a California car (Bishop origin?) - the red engine paint indicates.

I love the interior when it's clean. Your son must be happy of it.

When I first propsed the Wag to our son, he was less than enthusiastic. He wanted something smaller with Willys on the hood. We searched around a bit - and the only things that were in his price range were "projects". I kept saying that Grandad's Jeep was FREE and he could have it up and running for a lot less than anyone else's Jeep.
Eventually, it made sense, and now he's pretty pleased with the whole plan. Spending several days with his Grandad and hearing about some of the off-roading the Wag did really cemented it.
The interior looks nice, over all. There are some small tears but they were repaired along the way. The front seats have some larger ones. Looking at a couple of options to fix them.
What amazes me is none of the other grandkids had spoken up to take the Wag. Any of the other four could have had it if they had said something. Maybe insanity only runs in my side of the family?

There is some "dash sag" where the front of the dash pad has sagged over the dash to the point that you can't ope the ash tray on the driver's side. Is there a relatively easy to fix to this?
