I wish I could say that I had mine going so fast that it bent the needle but I am afraid that it was the sun that did the deed. The truck sat in my yard for almost 3 yrs while I got the time to get it running again and now that it is in good mechanical shape I need to work on the appearance.

I've fixed speedo needles using a flat tooth pick. Works pretty good unless you go with too much paint or glue which I think weighs more than the tooth pick.
Worth a try it's already broken so ya can't really screw it up. Actually magic marker would be better than paint.
Gets hot down there huh?

I had considered the toothpick method using the little plastic ones for the kids cupcakes, cut off the Mickey Mouse part of it of course. I am also considering replacing all of the dash gauges since they dont work very well if at all. Maybe just making a panel to go into the same size opening. I consider myself lucky that the dash pad is still in good shape considering the constant sun on it all these years.
I got lucky and only found rust on the front floor pans

And the only real body damage is the right rear quarter

I pulled the needles from an old Dodge truck I found in a yard for my last FSJ and they worked fine. Slid right on the spindle. All I did to make all of them match is use some masking tape and a bit of orange spray paint (Chevy orange is a near perfect match). I've used Testors model paint with a brush in the past as well with excellent results. It does require a bit more drying time, shouldn't be a problem in Texas.

I was going to say, that's what happens when you're going too slow for too long.

I had a seat belt buckle melt into the seat on my dodge ram and burned my hands on door knobs but I've never seen that happen before.
