Well I have been working on the wagon over the last several weeks (as well as lurking here) and was having several issues like rough idle and emergency drive not working. I also replaced the exhaust system with a new Walker 2.5" system because the yahoo that had the wagon before me had a glass pack put on it. With every issue I ran into I found an explanation on this forum and and how to fix it! Tonight I traced the Emergency Dive vacuum lines back to the engine and found that both the lines were ruptured. A quick cut ,reattach and test, confirmed that indeed this was the issue (and also helped with the idle a bit). And after I had it engaged I could not get out of emergency drive. I remember reading a thread here that mentioned reversing in and "S" pattern and a retry usually solves the issue, and it did. Tomorrow I perform the TFI upgrade and next weekend I replace all the TRE's.

So I just wanted to thank everyone here for your collective knowledge and your willingness to share "trade secrets".

Thanks!

UPDATE:

TFI Upgade DONE! It is amazing how much of a difference it makes in the engine start! First turn of the key it took a millisecond to start. Adjusted the carb idle mix and tweaked the timing (with instruction from this forum...) and the Wagon runs much better!

Now on to the TRE's next weekend.

I have a glasspack on my Mustang. I'm not a yahoo.

Glasspacks belong on a Muscle Car! I wanted something a little bit more civil when I am on the trail.
