I just got done rewiring an 84 GW (with a stock wiring harness). For some unknown reason I don't have dash lights when I pull the light switch. I tested just about everything and can't figure out why they won't come on. In addition, the stock fog lights won't come on either. I know the lights work and the switch works, but not together. I tested the light switch and can't find which of the 8 or so wires coming out of it sends dimmed power back out. There are two red wires, one constant and one powered when the lights are on, but none of the others seem to have juice. Are there any other required connections to get the lights to work (some small plug somewhere I may be missing)? Any ideas on what to check would be appreciated!

I am not an expert at anything. It could be said I practice the electrical arts. Do you have a schematic of the wiring? This is the roadmap that will guide you to the problem. If you do not have one, go to this site.

from the dimmer switch on the 74 : it is a red w tracer wire which goes to the fuse panel... then an orange that goes to cluster/heater/column... and other dash lights.....
check fuse, then check any shorts
