Well first off let me say I'm sorry, but I tried to keep the jeeps beating heart alive, but it was no use. The 401 just isn't enough motor for this thing, so when doing something right it's worth over doing. The new setup is going to be a chevy 8.1L with 4L85E combo from an 04 sierra 3500, the ECU is being sent to HAL injection to be retuned and power management taken out. This motor is VERY conservatively rated at 375HP and 445ft. lbs. of torque. After speaking to HAL I have been told it is closer to the 500hp mark and almost 600lb ft of torque:eek: when tuning and power management is removed. I'm going to make this a drive by cable motor instead of the original drive by wire. I will also be installing a ZZ502 cam from GMPP to help it out a little:D. So on the with the teardown of the old, Special thanks to Jason for a very smooth transaction and I wish him all the best with his new drivetrain!

Now for the teardown

How do go from drive-by-wire to cable actuated? Is there a kit out for that?

You just have to have the PCM reprogrammed for Drive by cable.

I guess I do not understand putting a Bowtie in a FSJ any more than you understand why anyone would continue to use a Borg Warner QuadraTrac. ;)

We had those engines in front of an Allison trans in our 26' U-Haul JH's and as big as they were they still moved pretty well.

Yes, I didn't want to tread on your post but way better.
Backed the fuel pressure down to about 17, reset everything and rechecked the TPS, haven't had to mess with it in several weeks now.
Thanks

Is the rest of your drive train gonna be able to deal with all that power? What axles are you running?

Well the rest of the Drivetrain consist of a 14BF rear, D60 front (35 spline outers) and NP 205 so it should be up to that task at hand:thumbsup:
