Well... I finished the install on my Hydroboost system.. :D
I want to thank Retro93 (Kim) for all his help/info on this....thanks Kim ;)

I CAN STOP ON A DIME!!!! I can't remember the last time I was able to stop like this in my Jeep. I am thoroughly impressed with a 200%improvement..no joke. I guess my vac booster was REALLY gone or just not enough vac to do the job.

(this is also a good way to run those BIG cams.. AND STILL HAVE BRAKES! smile.gif

I will be adding a page to my site on the install... just give me time to get it set up.

The install was fairly simple and didn't even have to bust into the brakelines at all... Just to brush up on my last post... I installed a 93 3/4 ton 4x4 Burb PS pump with the 2 return lines.... just about a direct bolt-in with slight manipulation to the rear ounted retrun line and swapping the mounting posts and hyd line fitting. I was able to manipulate my Jeep hyd line that originally went fromt he PS pump to the gearbox. Now is goes from the PS pump to the HB high side. the Caddy line is used fromthe HB lowside to the gearbox. the return line from the gear box goes to a new fluid cooler I installed.

Great! Can't wait to see the pics. I will need to see them for when I do this mod. I may have to head up that way and take a look in person, Mmmmmm.......

Sounds like you have come up with a good solution for braking on you rig. From what you have said not to terribly expensive either. Being able to stop is a most important function, our rigs have enough inertia as it is, your mods make it even more important. I am sure it adds to your peace of mind. Good Job! ;)

Wagdriver,

This upgrade I accredit to Retro93 (Kim) we was the first that I know of to do it and all info I had aquired was from him...

Stopping is a MAJOR plus.. :D I expected a major change... but it's better than I expected.

On thing that Kim and I talked about is the safety factors involved with this. If you screw it up... it can be DEADLY!!!! IE no Brakes!!!!

Not hard to do, but must be done correctly.... with 'good' parts

I am sure that the Hydroboost was the way to go for River Beast with those tires but I did the '78 J-20 double diaphragm booster on my 78 Cherokee WT and was amazed at the difference. I run 35" x 12.50 x 15" Pro-Comp XTerrains on 15"x10" Rock Crawlers and the brakes wokr really great. It cost approx $100 at Auto Zone including the Master Cylinder. The installation was a drop in. No hassle at all.

I thought about that Gary... I did research on it about 6 months ago... but wasn't sure on my vacuum.. I only have 11-13" at idle... cam doesn't help much either. This was my sure way of getting brakes without concern to vacuum issues.

Also.. if you find a 'good' HB unit... you'll spend less than that on the complete setup....

HB unit $15-$50 in a boneyard
Caddy HB to gear hyd line $16.99
your hyd line to gear will work fine
add a cooler for $22 and a 'T' fitting for the return lines...

only time after that. ;)
