I've got a cb that I need to mount in my GW but I don't really want to mess up my under dash AC unit by mounting it to the bottom of the AC. Anyone have any pics or suggestions of where you've mounted your cb's?
Thanks

I installed a cheep one I had laying around the garage. It's the kind with all the controls in the mic and a small box to be mounted out of the way. I mounted the box behind the passenger side carpet on the fire wall and hung the mic from my cup caddy on the hump. Simple and works for trail communications with my kids vehicles.
Another option my son has in his 76 Cherk is the hump mount for full size units. Nice and solid. The PO mounted it there and it looks as old as the Cherk. The only place I've seen them recently is at swap meets.

I have my CB and stereo amp hidden in an aftermarket console between the front seats. Keeps the dash clean and the CB within easy reach.

What year GW? If its an 84 or 85 you can mount a small size cobra where the ashtray goes...thats where I want mine in my '79

It's a 90 GW. The CB is a Uniden PC66XL, But I may get a Cobra if I can find a cheap one with all the bells and whistles. (I'm a gadget guy and like all the knobs and lights LOL) Has anyone mounted one on the tranny hump? I'm thinking about that but it makes me a little nervous don't want any holes in the floor.

PM me with your email address and I'll send pictures of my mounting system. I just don't feel like re-sizing them for attachments. I made my own mounts for my Uniden Grant XL on the trans hump.

I was thinking about the same thing, not sure where to put a CB, was hoping to cut a whole in the back of the glove box, but it looks like there is no free space behind it.
May go with something like this:

If you are a gadget guy, then get yourself a sideband radio. Leave the AM only radios for the schoolboys.......:D

That is very cool. I might give that a shot. makes me kinda nervous having to run screws into the tranny hump though.

I would love to get into the ham radios but they are so expensive. I would like to get my ticket someday though.

Email sent. That trans hump mount on ebay looks much simpler though..ready made! As long as you don't use 2 inch screws, you'll be fine. Plenty of clearance between the trans and hump.

How much do you use or want to use the AM/FM radio in your waggy?
I can't recall if that Uniden is nearly DIN size but if you wanted too you could pull the radio and replace with a DIN sized CB radio. I did this and it worked well for me since I would rather listen to the jabber on the CB or the weather band.
Here is a pic of a DIN size CB in the radio slot -- forgot I had this pic
