I had some major work done to my waggie, after 3 weeks the mechanic calls me and says "she's all done, but there is one problem". He replaced the engine, transmission, put in an new A/C and several other things. He explains that he thinks he has the vacuum tubes not all connected correctly and then asks me to see if I can find someone in my area with a Grandwagoneer that he could put side-by-side with mine and see what's connected wrong. At this point I'm willing to do just about anything to get the project completed, maybe there is a very detailed diagram out there that I can take to him or someone who is willing to help me out here, I will do what I can to make it worth their while. Apparently everything runs strong but when you put it in gear and hit the gas it just completely dies.

If someone out there can either direct me to somewhere or has a diagram or something I could take to him I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again in advance for the help...

try here (http://www.ifsja.org/tech/fuel/pictures/8cylvac.gif). It's from the tech section, off an '86 I think. Don't know how many differences there were between then and your year model though.

Print out the following diagram:

and have him match the vacuum hoses to that. This is from an '89 with A/C, which I assume your truck has.

A couple of thoughts. After spending that kind of money, I would really lean HARD on the mechanic to figure it out himself, it is not that hard. Heck, one interent post and you ahve all you need, no???!!!

Second, I did have vacume line issues, and used these very diagrams (Thanks IFSJA!), and it is easy to do. Really.

Lastly, I tried the "check another GW" idea, and *many* are rigged completely wrong, and believe me, you can REALLY make it run bad by hooking up a vacume line wrong, like ported vs non-ported.

btw, the "delay" valves are color coded and have to be installed corectly. I would think EGR valve first for the insta-stall issue...

luck...
