I was working on redoing the fuel fill on the 76 Chero and of course the hose at the tank had a hole in it. So I went the the auto store that will let me go thru there hoses:D and this is what I found. I know its a water hose, but I will be dead before it wares out or I will just replace it again.

Keep an eye on that hose. Non-fuel hose will either get really SOFT and leak or will get really BRITTLE and leak.

No, I don't know any other solution, however.

I used to have a ski boat that had an 10 gal. tank built and installed under the rear seat. Used flex radiator hose and a flip up filler cap (like on the early dodge chargers). Lasted for several years exposed to gas and the desert heat. Worth a try.

Boatyards, marine supply places carry fuel grade hose in the larger sizes.

edit: by the above I mean those dealing with commercial/work boats not the tupperware fleet.

This is what I ended up with on my 77 Cherokee.

All fuel rated .
Short lenght of GoodYear 1-3/4 and one lenght of Goodyear 1-3/4 90 degree molded fuel fill hose, and one C-C-90 degree copper elbow.

I got it at Auto Zone. Its made be Gates, and I have no idea what it fits. But I cut off a little at each end and it fit nice.

The largest regular fuel line I could find was 3/4 inch. I bought 3 feet of that for the vent line. My '79 J10 had a 1 inch fuel fill hose. That was smaller than or larger than any marine fuel line I could find. I don't know why 1 inch would be so hard to find. What I used was 1 inch nitrile hardwall hose that I got from a place down here that makes hydraulic hoses. It's petroleum rated, and being hardwall, it won't kink. It's a little tougher to clamp, but I used standard worm type hose clamps, and it works fine. I had to use a chop saw to cut it, though.

I got my 1 inch fuel rated hose at our local diesel shop cost about 7 bucks for 4 feet of it.

Truck shop for the straight 1 3/4" hose and muffler shop for the connector piece.

I ordered my fuel hoses from McMaster Carr after I bought fill hoses from BJ's and they didnt fit. Fash shipping and great strong hoses. Kinda pricey, and heavy,,, but working great.

If you have O'Reillys, you can order by the foot or precut lenght plus 45's and 90's. Fuel hose is pricey everywhere. You may have trouble getting them to find it though.

Also try tractor supply shops. They has fuel rated hoses for cheap. I got 4 feet for under $10.
