use the tranny/t-case out of the 70, and you may have to mod the mounts a bit. Otherwise should be pretty straight forward. It wont pass smog if you have to get smogged, as the engine is older then the vehicle your putting it in.

ooh...
that changes things... The buick has a different bolt patern then the AMC TH400. Requires an adapter.

No worky...
You would need to get the Nailhead or Universal TH400 version of the 400 that has 2" adaptor rings to various engines in order to put your Buick in that '76 unless you want to swap in the 3sp and steering column... big pain for no gain.
You would also need to unbolt and cut out the Buick motor mts from the '70 frame and swap them in. See my other post where you asked about this over on Klanks thread, I put some more info in there about other required changes.

You can do it without adaptors. You would need a BOP TH400 case, swap in the internals from your 76 AMC cased TH400 and that would give you a near bolt in swap. I have many BOP TH400 cases if this is a route you are interested in. Trans shop can swap the internals from your 76 TH400 to the BOP case usually reasonable and cheaper than any adptors can be had. Not quite a bolt in on the motor mount towers though, the frame at the motor mount towers are 1" or so differance between the 70 and the 76, so there is some minor mods there. Still over all not a bad swap. Buick is a nice engine, just would be sure it runs good enough to go through the work.
